An IndiGo flight with about 180 passengers traveling from Lucknow to Delhi faced a security scare on Friday when a bomb threat was discovered written on a tissue paper inside one of the lavatories. The flight, set to depart from Lucknow, was halted as crew members were alerted to the potential security risk onboard. Security agencies swiftly responded by implementing emergency procedures, preventing the aircraft from taking off.
The security concern arose after a tissue paper with the word “bomb” was located in one of the aircraft’s toilets. Following this finding, airport security personnel and other authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft and its vicinity. Fortunately, it was later confirmed that the threat was a false alarm, with no explosive device or suspicious items uncovered during the security check.
In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson acknowledged the security issue observed just before the scheduled departure of flight 6E 2111 from Lucknow to Delhi. The airline promptly informed the relevant authorities and cooperated fully to conduct the required security verifications. Despite the inconvenience caused to passengers, the aircraft was cleared to continue its journey to Delhi after obtaining necessary approvals, with the airline striving to minimize disruptions by providing refreshments and updates to affected customers.
IndiGo expressed regret for any inconvenience experienced by passengers, emphasizing their commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of customers, crew, and aircraft at all times.
