Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s willingness for dialogue within international law but emphasized resistance to coercion during a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister-Designate Ali al-Zaidi. Pezeshkian highlighted the challenge of facing US pressure while being expected to comply with unilateral demands, which he deemed impossible.
Pezeshkian underscored Iran’s stance against war and insecurity, stating that the country values peaceful solutions. He asserted Iran’s right to nuclear technology, criticizing US pressure to limit Iran’s nuclear industry and impose excessive demands.
Al-Zaidi, on his part, offered Iraq’s mediation between Iran and the US to address regional crises. Both leaders agreed to enhance bilateral relations through upcoming official visits.
The recent history of conflict between Iran, Israel, and the US was briefly mentioned, including joint attacks, casualties, retaliatory strikes, a subsequent ceasefire, and unsuccessful peace talks in Islamabad.
