Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi highlighted the significance of Iran’s ties with India, stating that both nations have mutual concerns and interests in the Persian Gulf. Araghchi, speaking after the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi, mentioned discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, covering topics such as the Strait of Hormuz and the current West Asia situation.
Araghchi expressed alignment with India on various issues, emphasizing shared interests and concerns in the region. He praised the warm hospitality extended by the Indian government during his visit and acknowledged the successful organization of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The Iranian FM also commended the support and solidarity shown by India towards Iran during challenging times.
Highlighting the historical and cultural ties between Iran and India, Araghchi affirmed Iran’s commitment to fostering friendly relations with India for the mutual benefit of both nations. He underscored the importance of continuing the positive economic, political, and cultural exchanges between the two ancient civilizations. Araghchi also acknowledged India’s humanitarian assistance and expressions of sympathy towards Iran in the face of recent adversities.
