Iran’s state media confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli attacks, leading to a 40-day mourning period declared by the Iranian government. The confirmation included reports of the deaths of four of Khamenei’s relatives in the same strikes, as stated by Iran’s Fars News Agency. Former US President Trump, on Truth Social, announced the leader’s death in the joint attacks, emphasizing the opportunity for Iranians to take back control of their nation.
Trump described Khamenei as “one of the most evil people in History,” celebrating his demise as “Justice for the people of Iran” and others affected by the leader’s actions. He highlighted the effectiveness of intelligence and tracking systems in targeting Khamenei and other leaders. Trump also indicated the continuation of a significant military campaign against Iran, emphasizing ongoing bombing efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and globally.
In a separate statement, Trump urged Iran’s military and security forces to surrender their arms in exchange for immunity, while asserting that a substantial portion of Iran’s senior leadership had been eliminated. Israeli media similarly reported Khamenei’s death in the US-Israeli attacks, confirming the discovery of his body.
