India’s wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan expressed his desire to motivate young players through his stellar performance as he returned to Patna Airport following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2026. Accompanied by his father, Pranav Pandey, Kishan was warmly greeted by fans chanting his name. Kishan, who made a remarkable comeback just before the World Cup, believes his success can serve as inspiration for aspiring cricketers in the city.
“Our team’s victory is not only a personal achievement but a triumph for the entire nation. We aim to maintain this level of cricket and continue winning,” Kishan shared with the media at the airport. He emphasized the importance of his performance in motivating young talents, stating, “I strive to inspire budding players from all corners. The World Cup victory highlights that success is attainable through hard work from any background.”
Kishan also redirected questions from reporters regarding Kirti Azad’s tweet criticizing Surya Kumar Yadav and Jay Shah for taking the T20 World Cup trophy to a temple in Ahmedabad. Dismissing the queries, Kishan urged for more meaningful questions, focusing on the World Cup experience and enjoyment rather than controversies.
Reflecting on his achievements in the T20 World Cup 2026, where he emerged as India’s second-highest run-scorer with 317 runs in nine innings at an average of 35.22 and a strike rate exceeding 193, Kishan outlined his future plans. “My goal is simple – to continue scoring runs, playing cricket, and achieving victories,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Kishan’s father, Pranav, expressed his joy at the victory, emphasizing the historical significance of the win and hinting at preparations for the upcoming 2027 World Cup. Kishan is now set to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have retained him for the tournament.
