The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is developing the Jabalpur Outer Ring Road project in Madhya Pradesh, spanning 114 kilometers with an estimated cost of around Rs 3,540 crore. This four-lane Greenfield corridor aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Jabalpur and enhance connectivity, trade, tourism, agriculture, and industrial activities in the Mahakaushal region.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh hailed the project as a significant development for Jabalpur and neighboring districts. He emphasized that the project will not only ease traffic within the city but also bolster regional commerce, tourism, and industry. The primary objective is to redirect heavy and long-distance vehicles away from urban areas, facilitating smoother traffic flow between Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra.
The Outer Ring Road project is a strategic solution to the mounting traffic issues caused by urbanization and industrial growth in Jabalpur. By creating an efficient bypass corridor, the project aims to address long-standing challenges such as traffic congestion, delays in transportation, and increased fuel consumption. Divided into five construction packages, the initiative will enhance road connectivity to nearby towns, villages, and the Jabalpur Airport, forming a comprehensive transport network around Jabalpur.
Highlighting the tourism benefits, Singh noted that improved connectivity through the Ring Road would ease travel to popular destinations like Bhedaghat, Dhuandhar Falls, Gwari Ghat, and Kanha National Park. Additionally, the project is expected to enhance tourism infrastructure and create job opportunities for the local community.
