Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett Smith is making a comeback to the world of ‘A Different World’. Recently, a photo of the 54-year-old actress standing in front of a trailer with the show’s logo and her character’s name on the door was shared. Smith reposted the photo from Netflix with the caption “She back #ADifferentWorld”.
Debbie Allen, among the commenters, expressed her excitement with a comment, “Yeeeeees Lena”. Smith, who joined the original show’s cast midway through its run, shared her experience of feeling pressure to “earn your stripes” during a 2024 episode of the Lemonada Media podcast, Legacy Talk with Lena Waithe.
In a conversation, Smith described Lena as “an extreme version of Jada” and highlighted the differences between working on a four-camera sitcom and a one-camera drama. Recalling her first day on set, Smith admitted she had never seen herself as a “comedic actress” and had to adjust to the live audience energy, emphasizing the need to be funny and hold one’s own.
Smith realized she was accepted by the older cast members, including Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, and Cree Summer, who are also returning for the sequel series, when they started embracing her. This acceptance signaled to Smith that she had earned her place on the show.
