Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, emphasized the unwavering commitment of the state’s police force to closely monitor terrorism and various criminal activities. Speaking at the inauguration of the 14th police martyrs memorial T20 cricket tournament 2025-2026 in Kathua, the DGP highlighted that the police will keep a vigilant eye on issues like drugs, gangsters, mafia, and especially terrorism. The primary goal of the police remains to eradicate all forms of anti-national and anti-social activities in the region.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with security forces, have been actively conducting operations against terrorists, their over ground workers (OGWs), sympathizers, drug smugglers, and individuals involved in hawala money rackets. These coordinated efforts are aimed at dismantling the entire terror ecosystem by eliminating its support networks. The focus also extends to tracking down drug smugglers and individuals linked to hawala money rackets, as the funds generated from these illegal activities are believed to fuel terrorism in the region.
The army and the Border Security Force (BSF) are responsible for monitoring infiltration, exfiltration, drug smuggling, and drone activities along the 740-Km long Line of Control (LoC) and the 240-Km long international border in Jammu and Kashmir. The LoC spans across Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu, while the international border is located in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts.
Regular security review meetings, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, assess the security preparedness and accomplishments in the region. Union Home Minister Amit Shah receives regular briefings on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, along with the progress made in combating terrorism in the union territory.
