The J&K government has initiated the transfer and posting of several IAS and JKAS officers to different departments with immediate effect. Key departments such as Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Agriculture Production, Information, and Tourism will see new officer assignments under Government Order No. 501-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated March 30.
Nazim Zai Khan is appointed as Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Kashmir, while Dr. Sagar Doifode Dattatray takes on the role of Special Secretary in the Agriculture Production Department with additional responsibilities. Shreya Singhal will assume the role of Director of Information starting April 1, and Amit Gupta is designated as Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Pahalgam.
Furthermore, Rajesh Kumar Shavan is named Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Jammu. The order, issued by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government M. Raju, also includes adjustments and relieving of additional charges for various officers.
The power to transfer and post IAS/IPS officers in J&K lies with Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, who also oversees law and order and security matters directly. The Lt. Governor is responsible for appointing any local Revenue Department officer with magisterial powers involved in law and order affairs.
