Jammu’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has officially opened Eveready Industries India Limited’s new plant in Samba. The facility, set up with a Rs 200 crore investment, is expected to create local jobs, support related industries, enhance skill development, especially for women, and significantly contribute to Jammu and Kashmir’s economic progress.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that this inauguration, coupled with the changing environment in the Union Territory, reflects the continuous efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that this initiative symbolizes a new chapter for Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing a thriving industrial revolution in regions like Samba, Kathua, Jammu, and parts of Kashmir.
Manoj Sinha praised the industrial growth in the past five years, stating that it has become a key driver of transformation in Jammu and Kashmir. The establishment of Eveready’s plant marks a significant milestone for the entire region, signifying a commitment to progress, national service, and a strong belief in the area’s vast potential.
Addressing attendees post-inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor shared statistics illustrating the industrial evolution in Jammu and Kashmir since the implementation of the New Industrial Policy in 2021. Notably, the region attracted investments of Rs 5,824 crore in the fiscal year 2025-26, a substantial increase compared to previous years.
