J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat mentioned that more than 4,000 constables, including 600 females, are engaged in specialized technical duties due to unique challenges. Among these constables are B.Tech and M.Tech graduates who will serve in technical roles within the force. The new constables, according to the police chief, represent a generation of educated and technically skilled youth crucial for strengthening the force in the future.
At a ceremony where LG Manoj Sinha presented appointment letters at the Armed Police Complex, Zewan, the DGP highlighted the recruitment of over 4,000 youth into J&K Police, with almost 600 being women. The recruitment drive received over 5.5 lakh applications for positions advertised in 2024, with many selected candidates holding graduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as B.Tech and M.Tech qualifications. The DGP emphasized that these highly educated recruits will be identified during training for specialized roles related to Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), CCPS, and other technology-based policing systems.
The DGP praised the patriotism and commitment of the highly educated youth joining the police force, emphasizing their role in national service. He described J&K Police as a modern, technology-driven force, stressing the importance of citizen-centric policing and enhancing professional capabilities within the organization. Referring to the newly recruited constables as the backbone of the force, he highlighted the values represented by the police uniform: discipline, honesty, loyalty, courage, sacrifice, and dedication to public service.
Encouraging the recruits to utilize their training period fully and learn policing aspects with dedication, the DGP noted the unique and challenging circumstances under which J&K Police operates. He underscored the need to prepare recruits not just physically but also mentally and professionally to effectively handle the diverse challenges faced by the force.
