The family and friends of the Kamduni victim urged Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to reopen the case file. Moushumi Kayal and Tumpa Kayal, prominent figures in the quest for justice, met with Adhikari to press for this on Wednesday.
Following recent political shifts, the current BJP government initiated the ‘Janata Darbar’ to address public grievances directly. This weekly program, held at the state BJP office in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area, allows Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to engage with citizens and offer solutions.
Accompanied by supporters, Tumpa Kayal and Moushumi Kayal visited the BJP state office with a file labeled ‘Kamduni Case File.’ They handed this file to the Chief Minister, requesting the case’s reopening, and have reportedly been assured of a fair resolution.
Expressing their concerns to the media, Moushumi Kayal emphasized the need for justice, citing past failures in the legal process. Tumpa Kayal reiterated their trust in the Chief Minister, highlighting the government’s commitment to revisiting the Kamduni case and ensuring appropriate legal actions against the perpetrators.
The tragic incident in Kamduni occurred on June 7, 2013, when a young woman was gang-raped and murdered. Subsequent legal proceedings resulted in varied sentences for the accused, with recent developments prompting the victim’s family and supporters to seek a renewed pursuit of justice.
