Last week, Karandeep Kochhar, after a rare weekend off due to a missed cut, showcased a remarkable comeback at the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort course. He scored a 6-under 66 on the first day of the USD 500,000 IGPL Bharath Classic, trailing Thailand’s Runchanapong Youprayong by just one shot.
Aryan Roopa Anand, another Indian golfer who recently triumphed at IGPL Congo, also impressed by securing a spot in the Top-10 with a 4-under 68, tying for eighth place. Kochhar, a 26-year-old with multiple pro titles in India, clinched his first IGPL victory last year in Dubai and has been displaying consistent form.
Reflecting on his performance, Kochhar attributed his success to improvements in his putting game. He expressed satisfaction with his progress, mentioning the significant effort he had put into refining his putting skills over the past few days.
Despite facing challenging conditions, including strong winds and altered tees, Kochhar remained optimistic and praised the course’s quality. He emphasized his overall strong performance, particularly highlighting his proficiency in driving, iron play, and putting. Looking ahead, Kochhar expressed eagerness for the upcoming rounds, appreciating the course’s conditions and expressing confidence in his game.
