Karnataka Legislative Council Opposition Leader and BJP member Chalavadi Narayanaswamy raised concerns about Minister for Home Priyank Kharge’s comments on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Narayanaswamy referenced Mahatma Gandhi’s post-Independence views on dissolving the Congress party and transforming it into a public service organization. He questioned why Kharge had not sought the Congress party’s dissolution in line with Gandhi’s vision.
Narayanaswamy also criticized Kharge for allegedly neglecting issues affecting Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes while focusing on the RSS. He accused the Congress government of failing to ensure funds under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan reached the intended beneficiaries. Narayanaswamy further questioned Kharge’s actions regarding Dalit issues and social justice, highlighting concerns over law and order in the region.
The BJP leader emphasized that he was not a spokesperson for the RSS but highlighted the role of various organizations in social and community service activities. He expressed the BJP’s readiness to support genuine efforts by Kharge in advocating for Dalit issues and social justice, urging him to prioritize these matters over what he deemed as irrelevant controversies.
