Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar claimed that the BJP had abused authority in various northern states during the recent elections. He alleged that the BJP had significantly misused power, especially in West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu. Shivakumar stated that around 2.5 lakh Central Armed Police Forces personnel were deployed, and nearly 96 lakh voters were removed from the electoral rolls.
Commenting on Kerala, Shivakumar mentioned that the United Democratic Front (UDF) had secured a substantial victory. Despite alleged ties between the LDF and the BJP, he expressed gratitude for the people’s support. Regarding Tamil Nadu, he noted that although the DMK faced defeat, voters rejected BJP allies, preventing “communal forces” from gaining ground.
Shivakumar expressed confidence in the results from southern India, indicating a clear rejection of the BJP by voters. When asked about the possibility of engaging with the TVK, he emphasized following the party’s directives without speculating on other matters. Responding to queries about his optimism in the Assam elections, Shivakumar stressed the importance of maintaining hope as a politician.
Addressing comments about actor Vijay’s political stance, Shivakumar clarified that his previous statements were in response to campaign assertions. He emphasized the impossibility of extending support to multiple parties when already aligned with one. Regarding potential support for TVK in Tamil Nadu, Shivakumar deferred to the party’s decision, highlighting the goal of keeping the BJP and its allies out of power. Reacting to criticism from BJP leaders, he questioned their failure to win in areas where they campaigned, attributing their remarks to seeking attention.
