In a significant development, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary Santosh Menon has been disqualified from his position by the BCCI Ombudsman. This decision came after it was found that Menon had served the maximum permissible term allowed for a cricket administrator. The ruling was based on a complaint filed by Dolphin Cricketers, a member of the state cricket body.
The BCCI Ombudsman, Justice Arun Mishra (Retd.), upheld the grievance and stated that Menon had completed a cumulative term of 9 years as a member of the Managing Committee and as an office-bearer. As per the rules, a person cannot hold a post for more than 9 years, and Menon had reached this limit. Consequently, Menon was declared ineligible to continue as the Honorary Secretary of KSCA.
Menon, who assumed the role of KSCA Secretary after winning the elections in December, faced disqualification due to the breaching of the term limit rule. The Ombudsman’s ruling declared the Secretary’s position vacant, directing both the state association and the BCCI to implement the decision promptly. The BCCI Ombudsman emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing cricket administration.
