After T. Siddique was sworn in as Kerala’s Agriculture Minister, he received a touching call from students in the Mundakkai–Chooralmala region of Wayanad, a region devastated by landslides. The emotional video call expressed gratitude for his support during the tragic times, highlighting his role in helping rebuild lives post-disaster.
The students, who had faced loss and uncertainty due to the landslides, credited Siddique for standing by them when they needed strength and shelter the most. Many of these students, who had suffered personal losses, were aided through Siddique’s MLA Care initiative, ensuring that their education continued despite the challenges they faced.
Siddique acknowledged the support of Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in mobilizing assistance for the district’s recovery efforts. With their help, Siddique was able to secure CSR support from various business groups, enabling affected students to pursue higher education in fields like medicine, engineering, and aviation, which seemed impossible after the disaster.
The initiative benefited a total of 351 students in Wayanad, with 152 directly impacted by the landslides. Notably, 21 students have already found employment within two years, showcasing a significant step towards recovery and rebuilding lives in the region. Beyond just numbers, the program symbolized a beacon of hope for the children of Wayanad, promising a brighter future despite the tragedies they had faced.
Siddique reassured the students of continued support and emphasized the facilitation of job opportunities for those completing their studies, ensuring that the restored hope would remain steadfast in shaping the destiny of Wayanad’s youth.
