Vijayan stressed the importance of self-reliance, modernization, and inclusive growth, asserting that Kerala will carve its path forward without depending on external support.
Describing the historical significance of the Communist movement in Kerala, Vijayan credited its role in shaping the state’s progressive journey, rooted in the societal reforms of the renaissance era. He emphasized the need for a forward-thinking approach to address the evolving economic and social landscapes, urging collective confidence in Kerala’s capabilities. Vijayan underscored the congress’s role in fostering constructive dialogues among researchers, planners, and practitioners to set a comprehensive agenda for the state’s future development.
The Chief Minister highlighted the congress’s objective of uniting various stakeholders to envision a ‘New Kerala,’ emphasizing that this transformative mission transcends political affiliations and necessitates broad collaboration. He also emphasized the significance of dispelling misinformation and ensuring equitable distribution of development benefits across all segments of society. Vijayan acknowledged the visionary foundation of the Kerala Studies congress, originally conceptualized by E. M. S. Namboodiripad, as a crucial platform for long-term policy deliberations and translating academic insights into tangible welfare initiatives.
