A day after the Left Front’s significant defeat in Kerala, K. M. Abraham, a close aide of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, stepped down as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. Abraham, a retired IAS officer, had a notable role in the state’s governance and faced scrutiny over alleged disproportionate assets.
Abraham’s resignation follows a Kerala High Court order for a CBI probe into accusations of amassing wealth beyond known income sources during his time in the Finance Department. Despite the Supreme Court’s stay on the order, the controversy prompted his resignation, marking a significant development in the state’s administrative landscape.
Having played a pivotal role in Kerala’s financial framework and spearheading administrative reforms, Abraham’s exit signifies a notable shift. His departure is viewed as part of a broader restructuring within the state’s governance, particularly amidst the Left Front’s electoral setback and mounting demands for accountability.
