Declaring the Kerala polls outcome a “historic verdict,” Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan praised the United Democratic Front (UDF) for securing a broad-based mandate that transcended communities, regions, and age groups. Satheesan expressed gratitude to the voters, party leaders, and workers, attributing the success to the support received from national figures like Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Satheesan, reflecting on his commitment to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in 2021, emphasized the UDF’s return to power as a testament to the coalition’s commitment to secular principles. He highlighted the victory as a reflection of the collective will for change, with significant backing from women, youth, and diverse voter segments cutting across traditional political affiliations.
The Leader of the Opposition underscored the electorate’s rejection of the incumbent Left government, citing a decade of governance failures and the UDF’s presentation of viable alternatives. Satheesan pointed out the Congress’s record-breaking performance, securing 63 seats and surpassing expectations by crossing the 100-seat mark, signaling a significant political shift in Kerala.
Regarding the formation of the new government, Satheesan confirmed that the Chief Ministerial selection would adhere to established procedures and be decided collectively by the UDF leadership. He emphasized the party’s commitment to efficient governance, aiming to meet public expectations and steer Kerala back to a path of growth and development.
