However, the elections also witnessed significant defeats, with Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi losing in Jorhat by over 23,000 votes. Senior figures like Debabrata Saikia and AJP chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi faced defeats as well. Congress candidate Meera Borthakur, Independent candidate Jayanta Das, and AJP’s Kankee Choudhury were among the notable losers in different constituencies.
The election outcome favored the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which secured 82 out of the 126 Assembly seats. In contrast, the Congress obtained 19 seats, while regional parties like the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) secured 10 seats each.
