Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, attributing their recent electoral setbacks to a failure of leadership. Rijiju pointed out that a significant number of Congress victories were among Muslim candidates, particularly evident in Assam where 18 out of 19 MLAs won by Congress were Muslims. He highlighted similar trends in other states like Kerala, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, emphasizing the concentration of Muslim candidates winning on Congress tickets.
Rijiju cautioned against Congress being labeled as a Muslim League Party, urging respect for all communities while avoiding divisive politics. He shared a video of Badruddin Ajmal from the All India United Democratic Front expressing disappointment over Congress’s perceived shift. The political discourse intensified after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured a decisive win in the Assam Assembly elections, securing a third consecutive term in power with a significant majority.
