A recent Kolkata Police investigation has exposed jailed gangster Feroz Khan, also known as ‘Mini Feroz’, for acquiring a foreign-made 9 mm pistol through a forged arms license supposedly issued in Nagaland. The police detectives seized the pistol and its magazine from Feroze upon his arrest on July 4. It was revealed that he had bought a significant amount of ammunition using the counterfeit license and suspicions arise that some bullets were utilized with illicit country-made firearms from Munger in Bihar.
Investigators also discovered three more pistols, a single-shot firearm, and multiple rounds of ammunition in possession of the accused and one of his associates. Efforts are ongoing to trace the origins of these weapons and bullets. Mini Feroz, a self-proclaimed strongman of East Kolkata’s Gulshan Colony, is entangled in 37 criminal cases across various police stations, including Topsia and Anandapur, involving charges like attempted murder, extortion, assault, and violations of the Arms Act, 1959.
Feroz had absconded to Bihar months ago, constantly changing locations and turning off his phone to evade capture. However, he was eventually nabbed by the Anti-Rowdy Section officers near the Dankuni Toll Plaza in Hooghly district on July 4, along with his associate Md. Sajid. This recent arrest is linked to a new criminal case filed at Topsia Police Station on June 23, accusing Feroz of illegal firearm possession, display, and stockpiling. Additionally, he is connected to the September 2025 Gulshan Colony shootout and bombing incident.
After his apprehension, authorities searched several properties associated with the gangster and found the foreign-made pistol and the forged Nagaland arms license. The license, bearing Feroz’s name, was supported by a fake Nagaland address and allegedly backed by falsified identity documents. Investigators suspect that he used this license to procure weapons from a firearm dealer in Kolkata and are currently collaborating with the shop as part of the inquiry.
