A first-year law student tragically shot a female classmate in a Punjab college classroom before turning the gun on himself. The incident occurred at Mai Bhago Law College in Usma village right before the class was scheduled to start. The accused, Prince Raj, sustained injuries, while the victim, Sandeep Kaur, lost her life on the spot, as confirmed by the police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagbir Singh revealed that Raj fired at Sandeep inside the classroom, resulting in her immediate death before he shot himself. An ongoing investigation is focused on determining the motive behind this tragic event. CCTV footage captured the moments leading up to the shooting, showing Prince, Sandeep, and another female student in the classroom.
After a brief conversation, they took their seats at the back of the classroom. Shortly after, Raj retrieved a firearm from his bag, aimed it at Sandeep, and fired at close range. Following her collapse, he turned the gun on himself, sustaining severe injuries. Sandeep Kaur passed away at the scene, while Raj was critically wounded and promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both students involved were approximately 19-20 years old, and the incident has deeply shocked the local community. Speculations suggest a potential unrequited romantic interest as a motive. Sandeep Kaur’s mother claimed that Raj had been harassing her daughter, and this issue had been reported to the college authorities.
Expressing her concerns, she questioned how Raj managed to enter the college premises armed. She demanded strict action against the accused for his actions. Sandeep’s sister, Manpreet Kaur, shared with the media that her sister had informed Raj of her engagement and asked him to stop pursuing her. Despite her clear rejection, he continued to pursue her, displaying signs of instability.
