Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka highlighted the importance of patience and collective belief following his team’s nail-biting last-over win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. The team, led by Rishabh Pant, clinched a dramatic five-wicket victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, chasing down 157 runs with just one ball to spare. Goenka stressed that such performances are crucial in the process of building a successful season, attributing the win to the team’s unity and clear leadership.

After the match, Goenka underscored the significance of time and belief in shaping a successful campaign in a lengthy tournament. He credited the team’s leadership group and the squad’s clarity for their composed performance under pressure. While acknowledging the encouraging result, he reiterated the team’s focus on continuous improvement as the tournament unfolds. Goenka expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized the ongoing journey of growth for the team.

Lucknow’s bowlers laid a solid foundation by restricting Hyderabad to 156/9, despite a resilient partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The thrilling chase culminated in Pant sealing the victory in the final over. This win marked Lucknow’s first triumph in the IPL 2026 season, with Mohammed Shami’s exceptional spell of 2-9 in four overs playing a pivotal role. Looking ahead, Lucknow Super Giants will face the Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens on Thursday, aiming to maintain their newfound momentum.
