Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav recently kickstarted various development initiatives in Ujjain, including the Hariyakhedi water augmentation scheme valued at over Rs 1,133 crore. This project involves setting up 17 new overhead tanks with capacities ranging from 600 to 3,000 kilolitres and laying a 708-km pipeline along with expanding the distribution network by approximately 534 km to secure Ujjain’s water supply until 2055.
During the event, Chief Minister Yadav also introduced a maternal and child nutrition project with a single click and visited an exhibition at the Kalidas Academy showcasing the water augmentation project. Additionally, he distributed laptops to outstanding students under ‘Project Swadhyay’ and provided wireless devices to sanitation inspectors and kits to sanitation workers, encouraging their efforts.
In a separate function, Chief Minister Yadav inaugurated the ‘Mahakal Van Mela’, a five-day Forest Department exhibition at the Dussehra Ground in Ujjain. Themed ‘Prosperous forests, happy people’, the event will run from February 11 to February 16, featuring participants such as collectors of non-timber forest produce, Van Dhan Kendras, and representatives from herbal and Ayurvedic industries.
The ‘Mahakal Van Mela’ marks the first time such an event is being held in Ujjain, offering various activities for attendees. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can engage in buyer-seller meets, receive free medical consultations from Ayurvedic doctors, enjoy cultural programs, and savor traditional food items. Furthermore, Chief Minister Yadav recognized the efforts of Divisional Forest Officers, the Managing Director of District Union South Panna, and a Forest Guard from District Union South Panna with certificates of appreciation.
