In a spirited address at the Legislative Council, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde staunchly supported the ruling alliance, criticizing opposition “media trials” and highlighting the government’s achievements in public welfare and infrastructure. Shinde refuted rumors of alliance discord, ridiculed the Thackeray faction’s sudden spiritual turn, and provided updates on state infrastructure and farmer support. He also emphasized the unwavering trust between him and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, dismissing attempts to sow discord.
Responding to criticism regarding a recent visit by Sharad Pawar to his office, Shinde clarified that it was a gesture of hospitality, not political maneuvering. He praised Milind Narvekar for his honesty in addressing safety concerns about the Mumbai–Pune Expressway ‘Missing Link’ project, contrasting him with other opposition figures who criticized without verifying facts. Shinde also took a dig at the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction’s protest campaign, questioning their priorities and commitment to public service.
Shinde underscored the importance of using the legislative platform to address public issues rather than engaging in media trials. He provided updates on governance amidst heavy rainfall in certain regions, assuring farmers of support and detailing financial assistance for crop damage and loan waivers. Additionally, he outlined extensive arrangements for the annual pilgrimage to Pandharpur and Alandi, including toll waivers, transport services, healthcare facilities, and air ambulance services.
Defending the ‘Missing Link’ project, Shinde highlighted its safety measures and the significant time and cost savings it would bring upon completion. He warned the opposition against baseless attacks on crucial development projects, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Maharashtra’s progressive reputation.
