In a significant operation against the illegal trade of narcotics and illicit liquor, the police team at Delhi’s Karawal Nagar police station apprehended three suspects and seized a substantial amount of ganja, illicit liquor, and cash. The crackdown occurred when Head Constable Tarun observed two individuals, a man and a woman, acting suspiciously outside a residence in Delhi’s Shiv Vihar area. The duo was found with cardboard boxes of illicit liquor and a bag containing a green leafy substance.
The recovered items included 122 quarter bottles of Night Blue Whisky, 278 quarter bottles of ‘Santra Desi Sharab’, 22 quarter bottles of White and Blue Whisky, 24 quarter bottles of Officers Choice Whisky, and 18 beer cans, all labeled ‘For Sale in Haryana and Delhi Only’, along with 320 gm of ‘ganja’. The accused individuals were identified as Ajay, a 24-year-old man, and a woman in her thirties, both residents of Delhi’s Karawal Nagar.
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to procuring the liquor for illegal sale and disclosed the presence of a significant amount of ganja at the residence of a third accused, Om, in Prem Vihar. Acting swiftly on this information, a team led by Inspector Sanjay Singh, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Yatin Sharma, conducted a search at the location.
Following the search, 21.720 kg of ganja was recovered from the premises of the third accused. Additionally, Rs 2,51,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from the illicit trade, was found at the residences of Ajay and the female suspect. An FIR under the Delhi Excise Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was filed at the Karawal Nagar Police Station. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the source and distribution network of the contraband substances.
The seized items include Rs 2,51,000 in cash, 22.040 kg of ganja, 450 quarter bottles of illicit liquor, and 18 beer cans.
