Uttar Pradesh Police have apprehended a man for murdering his girlfriend and scattering her remains at various sites following a disagreement about her interaction with someone else. The Jaunpur police disclosed that the case was resolved within 14 hours of discovering the body. Circle Officer Vijay Chaudhary stated that a joint team, including the Surveillance Cell and Mariyahu Police Station, swiftly cracked the case after the body was found near the Ranipur Bypass on July 5, 2026. The suspect, a resident of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, residing in Mariahu town, was arrested after a police encounter resulting in a leg injury. He is currently receiving medical treatment.
Police revealed that the accused was located through surveillance information and analysis of CCTV footage. An ongoing investigation is in progress to delve deeper into the matter. Authorities indicated that the crime was allegedly incited by the accused’s displeasure over the victim conversing with another individual. In a similar incident earlier this year in Uttar Pradesh, a man in Agra fatally stabbed his girlfriend at his workplace, dismembered her, and disposed of her body parts in the Yamuna River. Following an extensive search, the perpetrator was apprehended. The incident came to light on January 24 when the police recovered a bag containing human remains, prompting an investigation after the woman’s family reported her missing when she did not return home. Police teams scrutinized CCTV footage, which revealed the victim’s colleague, Vinay, transporting a sack on her scooter.
