A man in his early 20s was fatally shot by US Secret Service agents and local police for breaching the secure perimeter at Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on February 22 when the individual was seen near the property’s north gate carrying a shotgun and a fuel can.
Authorities disclosed that there were no protectees of the Secret Service present during the intrusion. Following a confrontation with law enforcement, shots were fired, resulting in the death of the intruder. Fortunately, no personnel from the Secret Service or Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office sustained injuries during the encounter.
Investigations into the incident, which involve examining the individual’s background, actions, possible motives, and the response of law enforcement, are being carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the US Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Notably, this event took place close to where a previous assassination attempt on Trump occurred in 2024 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
