The Mangaluru District Youth Congress Committee has removed Nizam from his position as District General Secretary and expelled him from the party due to accusations of engaging in anti-social activities. Nizam, along with his associate Jitesh, was arrested by Mangaluru police for allegedly extorting Rs 2.77 crore from a businessman using private compromising material over a two-year period. The Youth Congress cited damage to the organization’s reputation as the reason for Nizam’s expulsion.

The party, under District Youth Congress President Ibrahim Nawaz, emphasized that any actions conflicting with its values or interests would not be tolerated. It was revealed that Jitesh initiated contact with the victim in 2024, leading to extortion threats and demands. Nizam, approached for help by the victim, allegedly joined forces with Jitesh in the extortion scheme, creating a fabricated suicide scenario to coerce the victim into compliance.

The victim, fearing legal repercussions and social disgrace, continued to make payments as instructed by the accused. The extortion scheme unraveled in June 2026 when the victim discovered Jitesh alive, contrary to the earlier claim of his death. Subsequently, the victim reported the incident to the Urva Police Station, resulting in the arrest of the accused duo and an ongoing investigation into the extent of the extortion network. The arrest of Nizam has sparked political discussions online due to circulating photos of him with various political figures.
