Actor Manoj Bajpayee has addressed the controversy surrounding the title of the upcoming Netflix series “Ghooskhor Pandat.” In a statement on Instagram, Bajpayee acknowledged the concerns raised by people but clarified that his portrayal in the series was about a flawed character and not a reflection on any community. He emphasized that the intention was to depict a personal journey of self-realization, not to make a statement about any specific group.
Bajpayee also praised filmmaker Neeraj Panday’s dedication to his projects, highlighting the seriousness with which Panday approaches his work. The decision to remove promotional material for the series in response to public sentiment demonstrates the filmmakers’ sensitivity to the issue.
The controversy has escalated to the extent that an FIR has been lodged against the director and team of “Ghooskhor Pandat” in Lucknow. Certain groups have threatened protests, alleging that the title is derogatory to the Brahmin community. Neeraj Panday had previously clarified that the term “Pandat” is a fictional character name and not linked to any specific caste, religion, or community. He also expressed regret for any unintended offense caused by the title.
