Amid the recent security lapse during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to West Bengal, Mayawati, the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo, expressed deep regret over the incident. Stressing the significance of honoring the President’s position, she emphasized the need to uphold protocol and refrain from politicizing such esteemed roles. Mayawati highlighted the importance of respecting constitutional positions and urged for a non-partisan approach towards upholding their dignity.

Mayawati called for a smooth functioning of the upcoming Parliament session, emphasizing the necessity of running it efficiently in the country’s best interest. She underscored the public’s expectation for a harmonious parliamentary session devoid of disruptions, emphasizing the need for collective respect towards constitutional roles.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also weighed in on the matter, labeling the controversy surrounding the venue change for the 9th International Santal Conference and the challenges faced by President Droupadi Murmu as regrettable not only for West Bengal but for the entire nation. Rijiju condemned the last-minute alteration of the conference venue and expressed dismay over the treatment meted out to President Murmu, emphasizing the significance of upholding tribal pride and the sanctity of constitutional positions.
