Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati conducted a crucial meeting with the party’s state unit in Lucknow, emphasizing the need to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level for the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections. The meeting, held at the BSP state office on Mall Avenue, focused on enhancing election readiness and organizational efficiency in light of new electoral challenges nationwide. Mayawati expressed the party’s goal of establishing a “pro-people government” in Uttar Pradesh for the fifth time, citing increasing public support.
The gathering, attended by booth-level in-charges and various committee office-bearers, reviewed progress reports on organizational strengthening, social engagement, and financial backing for the party. While acknowledging the implementation of previous directives, Mayawati cautioned party workers against complacency, highlighting the prevalence of deceptive political tactics by rival parties. She urged unity among workers to secure victory, emphasizing the significance of every vote and the party’s slogan “Haathi wale button ko dabao, satta mein wapas lao” (Press the button on the elephant, bring back to power).
Mayawati stressed the importance of learning from recent Assembly elections in five states, urging the BSP to draw insights as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab gear up for upcoming polls. She criticized ruling parties for engaging in divisive politics during elections and neglecting public welfare post-election. Describing the current political and economic landscape as distressing, Mayawati called for governance focused on the welfare of all citizens rather than benefiting the elite.
The BSP leader highlighted the state’s need for governance that prioritizes law and order and employment-oriented development, drawing on the party’s past governance records. Mayawati invoked BSP founder Kanshi Ram’s vision of “Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay,” emphasizing the party’s commitment to public welfare. Encouraging voters to trust the BSP once more, she underlined the government’s responsibility to ensure livelihood, peace, communal harmony, and constitutional governance.
