Meghalaya showcased a dominant performance, defeating Andhra Pradesh 8-1 at the Rama Krishna Mission Ashrama in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, moving closer to securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men’s National Football Championship. In another Group A match, Jharkhand emerged victorious over Rajasthan with a 2-1 scoreline.
The match between Meghalaya and Andhra Pradesh saw Alex Manar, Mebanlamlynti, and Ryan Gibbs Kharnaior scoring two goals each, while Phermanbha Lyngdoh and Sholinstar Syngkli added one goal each. On the other hand, B Bharath Kumar Reddy was the sole scorer for Andhra Pradesh. Jharkhand, in their Group A encounter, secured a win against Rajasthan, with goals from Roushan Kumar and Animesh Champia.
Meghalaya currently leads Group A with nine points from three matches and only requires a draw against Rajasthan on May 17 to secure their spot at the top of the group and advance to the quarterfinals. In Group C, Kerala registered a convincing 5-1 victory over Chandigarh, while Uttarakhand dominated Andaman and Nicobar with a 9-1 win.
