Mercedes-Benz India has reported its strongest first-half sales ever in a calendar year, with 9,768 units sold from January to June 2026, marking a 9% increase from the same period in 2025. The company also achieved its best-ever second-quarter sales, with 4,637 units sold, reflecting a 10% growth. Luxury vehicle sales, particularly top-end models like the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, and the new V-Class, saw significant growth, accounting for 28% of total sales and increasing by over 20% in the first half of the year.
Mercedes-AMG sales experienced a remarkable 50% surge in the first half of 2026. The company noted that battery-electric vehicle (BEV) sales doubled to 14% of the total sales mix in the second quarter, driven by models like the new CLA BEV and the EQS SUV. The EQS SUV emerged as the best-selling luxury BEV, with top-end BEVs contributing 25% to overall top-end sales in the first half of the year.
The long-wheelbase E-Class maintained its position as the highest-selling luxury car, with strong demand for the top-end E450 variant. Mercedes-Benz announced plans to open five new luxury outlets in key emerging markets, including Varanasi, in the third quarter of 2026. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, attributed the success to the new V-Class and CLA BEV, emphasizing customers’ preference for advanced technology and product quality over entry-level pricing.
Iyer highlighted the growing popularity of top-end vehicles, with the share of top-end vehicles reaching a record 28% in the first half of 2026. He also mentioned the strong performance of the AMG portfolio, which achieved a 50% growth trajectory. The Entry Luxury segment of Mercedes-Benz witnessed a robust 29% growth in the second quarter of 2026, primarily due to the successful launch of the CLA BEV and high customer demand for feature-rich products like the GLA SUV.
