Mercedes-Benz India has made history by being the first market outside the United States to locally produce the ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach GLS. This move signifies the increasing significance of India for the German luxury carmaker and demonstrates their strong belief in the country’s interest in high-end luxury vehicles.
The local manufacturing of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS by Mercedes-Benz India will not only enhance its top-tier product range but also enable the brand to better address the growing demand while reaffirming its enduring commitment to the Indian market. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, emphasized that this decision showcases the company’s dedication to Indian customers by offering a top-tier luxury SUV that is ‘Made in India.’

Mercedes-Benz India’s electric vehicle business also continued its growth trajectory in 2025, with a 12% year-on-year increase in the battery electric vehicle portfolio, representing 20% of all top-end Mercedes-Benz cars sold in the country.
