A missing persons case involving a woman and her nine-year-old son from Kushalnagar in Madikeri district has taken a controversial turn. They were found in a madrassa in Kerala’s Malappuram district, leading to the arrest of two individuals by the Karnataka police.
Allegations from Hindu organizations have surfaced, linking the incident to an alleged “love jihad” network. They are calling for a thorough investigation and strict action against those involved, claiming similar networks exist in Malappuram district.
The woman, identified as Sanchita, was working at a textile shop in Kushalnagar before she and her son went missing, causing concern among family members. Initially, it was suspected that she had eloped with the shop owner, Saleem. Her husband sought help from the police, suspecting the owner’s involvement, with Hindu activists supporting the family in locating them.
The woman and her son were eventually located in a madrassa in Malappuram district. Investigations revealed signs of religious conversion and allegations that the child underwent a circumcision ritual. Two individuals, Saleem and Jaleel, have been arrested in connection with the case, with ongoing investigations to determine the circumstances of their travel to Kerala.
Hindu organizations have raised concerns about a religious conversion network operating in the area where Sanchita worked. They are calling for a comprehensive probe into the matter. Police have assured that the investigation is ongoing, with further actions pending based on the findings.
