Mizoram showcased a dominant performance in the quarter-finals of the Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship, securing a commanding 6-2 victory over SAI. Lalrinfela Ralte and Vanlalramnghaka each scored hat-tricks in the match held at the RK Ashram Ground 1.
Vanlalramnghaka initiated the scoring in the third minute and completed his hat-trick with goals in the 51st and 53rd minutes. Ralte contributed with goals in the sixth and 39th minutes, adding a late penalty in the 82nd minute to complete his own hat-trick. SAI managed to score through Onam Romio Singh in the 10th minute and Pangai Konyak in the 63rd minute.
Mizoram took an early lead due to a defensive error, with Vanlalramnghaka intercepting a loose backpass and calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Ralte doubled the lead shortly after, courtesy of a superb ball from Henry Malsawmtluanga.
Despite a response from SAI with a goal by Onam Romio Singh, Mizoram continued to dominate, extending their lead with Ralte’s second goal in the 39th minute. The second half saw Mizoram maintain their momentum, with Vanlalramnghaka scoring two quick goals to complete his hat-trick.
SAI managed another goal through Pangai Konyak, but Mizoram sealed their victory with Ralte converting a penalty in the 82nd minute. The match ended with a resounding win for Mizoram, showcasing their attacking prowess.
