The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) revealed Sayali Satghare, Saima Thakor, and Humaira Kazi as the icon players for the upcoming T20 Mumbai Women’s League. Sayali will play for SoBo Mumbai Falcons, while Saima and Humaira will represent Thane Sky Risers and Aakash Tigers, respectively.

Sayali and Saima, having international experience with the Indian team, will bring their expertise to the league. On the other hand, Humaira, a consistent performer in domestic cricket with exposure in India A, adds strength to the lineup.

MCA President Ajinkya Naik emphasized that the selection of these icon players lays a solid foundation for the league, aiming to nurture talent and enhance the women’s game in India. The league is envisioned as a platform to strengthen the domestic structure and inspire young talent in the city.

Rajdip Gupta, chairman of the league governing council, highlighted the importance of these icon players in shaping strong team identities and fostering a competitive environment. Their presence is expected to set the tone for the league, combining experience and ambition to create a high-performance platform for women’s cricket.

The player auction for both the T20 Mumbai League and the T20 Mumbai Women’s League is scheduled for Saturday. Over 2,400 players, including men and women, have registered for the auction, showcasing the depth of cricketing talent in the city.

Teams in the women’s league will consist of 16 to 18 players, while men’s teams will have 18 to 20 players, ensuring competitive balance and depth in the squads. With the icon players announced and the auction approaching, the T20 Mumbai Women’s League is poised to play a crucial role in strengthening Mumbai’s cricket pipeline and promoting women’s cricket in India.
