Nagaland Chief Minister Highlights State’s Progress in Sustainable Development Goals

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio emphasized the state’s advancements in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in Gender Equality (SDG-5), showcasing a dedication to inclusive growth and women’s empowerment. During the NITI Aayog 11th Governing Council meeting, Rio commended Mokokchung, Kohima, and Dimapur districts for ranking among the top performers in the Northeast District SDG Index 2.0.

Rio praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for convening the meeting and reiterated Nagaland’s commitment to the Viksit Bharat @ 2047 vision. He highlighted governance reforms, infrastructure proposals, and developmental achievements in the state, including the implementation of SDG-linked Budget Architecture and Gender Budget Statement to enhance transparency and evidence-based planning.

The Chief Minister outlined various initiatives focusing on women-led development, such as the Innovation Seed Fund for nano women entrepreneurs and the introduction of Pink Scooty Taxis. He also discussed efforts under the Nagaland Strategic Water Resilience Initiative, expansion of bamboo-based value chains, and programs promoting the green economy to foster sustainable development.
