The Census authority in Nagaland has mobilized approximately 6,100 enumerators and supervisors for the upcoming Census 2027 to ensure thorough household coverage in the state. The House Listing Operation (HLO), marking the initial phase of Census 2027, is scheduled to take place from July 1 to July 30, 2026. Citizens can also opt for self-enumeration via the Census portal from June 16 to June 30 before the fieldwork commences.
Director of Census Operations, Nagaland, Keneilhoutuolie Miachieo, highlighted the extensive awareness campaign launched by the Directorate of Census Operations to guarantee accurate and inclusive household coverage for Census 2027. This initiative was discussed during a meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Co-ordination Committee (IMPCC) in Kohima. The campaign includes various media platforms like print, radio, television, social media, and local dialect broadcasts to encourage public engagement and awareness.
Emphasizing the importance of accurate census data for governance, policy-making, and development planning, officials urge citizens to provide correct information during the enumeration process. Miachieo announced plans by the IMPCC to conduct a strategic month-long awareness campaign targeting specific groups and countering misinformation. The State Level Census Coordination Committee (SLCCC) chaired by Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha has also reviewed the state’s readiness for Census 2027.
To enhance public participation, messages from key officials like the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and Home Commissioner are set to be broadcast through All India Radio. Training programs for various personnel involved in the census process, including master trainers, field trainers, and enumerators, have been ongoing to ensure the smooth execution of the exercise. Currently, training for Supervisors and Enumerators is scheduled between June 8 and June 25, with 130 field trainers already trained.
