The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), in partnership with the Government of Meghalaya, will host a two-day National Conference titled “NextGen Administrative & e-Gov Reforms” in Shillong on July 13 and 14. The event will bring together policymakers, administrators, technology experts, and governance practitioners from various parts of the country.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma will speak at the conference’s opening session. Additionally, Secretary of DARPG Nivedita Shukla Verma and Meghalaya Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed will address the inaugural session.

The conference anticipates over 300 participants, including senior officials from Central and State governments, District Collectors, policymakers, domain experts, and representatives from academic institutions and public administration practitioners. The primary objective is to provide a national platform for discussions on the future of public administration and digital governance, promoting the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices among states and Union Territories.

Delegates attending the two-day event will have the opportunity to learn about various initiatives, including Prime Minister’s Award-winning projects for 2023 and 2024, National Awards for e-Governance-winning projects, best governance practices from Meghalaya, and DARPG-assisted State Collaborative Initiatives from the North Eastern region.

The conference agenda includes presentations on a wide array of themes such as holistic district development, digital governance, cybersecurity, public service delivery, healthcare, education, banking, consumer protection, urban governance, rural development, and technology-enabled administration. The event will commence with a session focusing on Meghalaya’s governance innovations and citizen-centric reforms to enhance service delivery and administrative efficiency.

Another session will spotlight successful district-level governance models, including those related to holistic development, education, rural livelihoods, and the Aspirational District Programme. Participants will also be introduced to the National Awards for e-Governance 2026-winning projects, showcasing the application of emerging technologies in various sectors for scalable governance models nationwide.
