NDA leaders nationwide are participating in tree planting initiatives on World Environment Day as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted that India currently has an 11% deficit in per-capita green cover essential for environmental sustainability. Singh emphasized the importance of planting trees to meet the target of 0.05 hectares per hectare of land.

Singh also mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s focus on water conservation through ‘Mission Amrit Sarovar’ and the emphasis on renewable energy to combat carbon emissions under initiatives like ‘PM Surya’. The government is encouraging social forestry to promote tree planting under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.

During a visit to a market in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, Singh revealed that the government allocated land to promote artisans, providing stalls to showcase and sell their products directly. He aims to create an environment where artisans’ children can inherit and utilize traditional skills with modern technology. Singh highlighted PM Modi’s efforts to connect artisans with foreign markets through e-marketing.
