Another FIR has been lodged regarding the dissemination of allegedly misleading social media content linked to the recent violent workers’ protest in Noida. Specific Facebook accounts and a YouTube channel, including ‘tarunai.ketarane’ and ‘TheCARWAN’, are named in the complaint. The accused are accused of sharing videos and posts containing false information targeting the police and state government during the labor unrest.
Authorities are concerned that such content could incite worker anger and disrupt law and order in the region. The social media posts are under scrutiny as part of the broader investigation into the April 13 violence during labor protests in Noida. A magisterial inquiry was initiated by the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration on May 7 to delve into the protest sequence and determine accountability.
The clashes on April 13 led to law and order disturbances in parts of Noida, prompting the police to use “mild force” to disperse the protesters. While the unrest initially stemmed from labor demonstrations seeking wage revisions, questions remain about the exact trigger for the violence and potential instigation. The protests were part of a series of labor-related agitations in Noida and Greater Noida, mainly concerning wage disputes and working conditions.
The main accused, Aditya Anand, was apprehended by the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police and Special Task Force in Tamil Nadu. Anand, accused of inciting violence during labor protests, had been on the run since the incident. Investigations are ongoing into the involvement of social media platforms and individuals in spreading provocative content related to the protests.
