New Zealand Cricket has announced Geoff Allott, a former international cricketer, as its new Chief Executive Officer, starting July 1. Allott, a former BlackCaps seamer with experience in 10 Tests and 31 ODIs from 1996 to 2000, brings nearly 20 years of cricket administration experience and strong business acumen, including ties in India and the broader South Asian region.
Allott expressed his enthusiasm for the role, citing his history with the organization and commitment to fostering positive relationships and achieving excellence both on and off the field. His involvement in cricket governance dates back to his founding membership in the New Zealand Cricket Players Association in 2002, followed by roles on various cricket boards.
Having served as a director for eight years and receiving NZC Life Membership in 2022, Allott succeeds Scott Weenink as the sixth CEO in NZC’s history. With prior experience as General Manager of Cricket, he is well-versed in the sport’s intricacies and has actively supported initiatives like the advancement of women’s cricket, emphasizing unity and collaboration for the sport’s growth.
Geoff Allott’s appointment was praised by NZC Chair Diana Puketapu-Lyndon, who highlighted his diverse skill set and extensive experience within the cricketing realm. She expressed confidence in Allott’s ability to lead NZC through its next phase of development, leveraging his cricket expertise, commercial leadership, and international perspective for a promising future for New Zealand cricket.
