In a coordinated operation in and around Bhubaneswar, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at three locations related to a bomb blast in the Sundarpada area in January 2026. The NIA stated that these locations were pinpointed based on evidence collected earlier from an arrested suspect and other investigative findings.
The searches aimed to determine the origin of the explosive materials and components used in making the bombs and to understand their intended purpose. Digital devices and other potentially incriminating items were seized during the searches and are undergoing forensic analysis.
The incident in question involved a bomb explosion during an improvisation attempt by four individuals on a building rooftop in Bhubaneswar. The case, initially handled by local police, was taken over by the NIA in April 2026 for further investigation into the blast and to identify additional suspects.
Accused individuals involved in the explosion suffered severe injuries, with two succumbing to their burns in the following days. The NIA continues its efforts to uncover all parties linked to the crime.
