The Northeast Frontier Railway has put in place strategic measures to ensure safe train operations during the upcoming monsoon season. With the region prone to heavy rainfall and landslides, the railway has stationed watchmen at vulnerable spots to monitor track conditions continuously. Additionally, areas susceptible to washouts and floods have been reinforced with stronger embankments and improved drainage systems.
Water-level measuring gauges have been installed at critical points, especially in hilly areas, to monitor rising water levels in real time. The railway has also stationed relief materials like boulders, sandbags, and wire mesh at key locations for quick response during emergencies. Rapid Response Teams have been formed across all divisions to address incidents promptly, minimizing disruptions to services.
To prepare for the monsoon season, substantial quantities of materials have been strategically stocked across all divisions. Each division has stocked boulders, sand/quarry dust, and cement bags to ensure preparedness. The railway is also equipped with winch crabs, jacks, tirfors, and tripods for rescue operations. Collaboration with the India Meteorological Department helps in receiving real-time weather alerts for proactive decision-making.
Passengers are urged to stay informed through official channels and cooperate with railway authorities. Northeast Frontier Railway is dedicated to ensuring safety, operational efficiency, and passenger convenience throughout the monsoon season. Railway infrastructure disruptions during monsoons often impact connectivity among Northeastern states.
