Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, slammed the Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for its alleged failure in development. Narayanaswamy accused the government of relying solely on guarantee schemes to sustain itself politically, claiming zero progress in development.
Narayanaswamy highlighted the government’s inability to fulfill promised guarantee schemes and criticized its handling of welfare programs. He specifically mentioned the Anna Bhagya free rice scheme, where he accused the government of backtracking on its initial promises.
The Opposition leader also accused the government of neglecting the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, citing misallocation of funds meant for their benefit. He further criticized the government for alleged food shortages in hostels catering to Dalit students, questioning the administration’s commitment to marginalized communities.
Narayanaswamy’s critique extended to individual ministers within the government, particularly targeting Food Minister K.H. Muniyappa and Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa for their handling of welfare issues and internal reservations.
