Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, V.D. Satheesan, expressed worries about the deteriorating situation within the CPI(M) in Kerala. He highlighted that after a decade in power, internal conflicts are becoming more pronounced and challenging to manage. With the upcoming Kerala Legislative Assembly Election 2026 on April 9, the political dynamics in the state are swiftly changing.
The Left is facing criticism while the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have only revealed their initial candidate lists. The opposition is intensifying its critique, citing growing unrest within the ruling coalition. Satheesan emphasized that the current circumstances validate earlier concerns regarding the CPI(M)’s internal state.
Satheesan, addressing reporters in Cochin International Airport, noted the unusual criticism from senior party members. The Left is also troubled by the disillusionment among its traditional supporters. He attributed this loss of faith to the government’s performance over the past decade, indicating that dissatisfaction extends beyond political adversaries.
